&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Essential Functions includes but are not limited to:&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br&gt;&amp;#8226;&amp;nbsp; Works with Desk Editor and Managing Editor to produce news spot reports and features on education-related topics for Public Affairs programs.&amp;nbsp; &lt;br&gt;&amp;#8226;&amp;nbsp; Generates and pitches original story ideas. Researches, reports, writes and produces content for Public Affairs programs. &lt;br&gt;&amp;#8226;&amp;nbsp; Files spot reports live in-studio or in the field and may contribute to roundtable discussions of events and issues.&amp;nbsp; Conducts live debriefs with hosts as appropriate.&lt;br&gt;&amp;#8226;&amp;nbsp; Assists in training/mentoring of interns and other staff as appropriate.&lt;br&gt;&amp;#8226;&amp;nbsp; May present newscasts or prepare broadcast material for others and substitute for news anchors and hosts as requested.&lt;br&gt;&amp;#8226;&amp;nbsp; Participates in on-air fund-raising.&lt;br&gt;&amp;#8226;&amp;nbsp; Performs all duties in a manner consistent with Chicago Public Radio&amp;#8217;s high journalistic standards to ensure that accuracy, thoroughness, and fairness are central characteristics of all content presented.&amp;nbsp; &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br&gt;&amp;#8226;&amp;nbsp; Demonstrates strong writing, reporting and production skills.&lt;br&gt;&amp;#8226;&amp;nbsp; Should have solid knowledge of broadcast equipment, digital editing and posting stories online.&lt;br&gt;&amp;#8226;&amp;nbsp; Expected to be well informed in a wide range of areas beyond current events.&lt;br&gt;&amp;#8226;&amp;nbsp; Must have excellent writing, and interviewing skills.&lt;br&gt;&amp;#8226;&amp;nbsp; Ability to meet deadlines and take direction.&lt;br&gt;&amp;#8226;&amp;nbsp; Knowledge of regional education issues desirable.&lt;br&gt;&amp;#8226;&amp;nbsp; Hosting, anchoring and editing experience a plus.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Qualifications:&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br&gt;College graduate or equivalent experience; Must have two years of full-time journalism experience with broadcast experience strongly emphasized.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Reports to:&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br&gt;Education Desk Senior Editor. Work hours and assignments of the Reporter shall be determined by Education Desk Senior Editor with the Managing Editor and are subject to change.&amp;nbsp; &lt;/p&gt;
